I absolutely love shooting in black and white; I feel that it helps you to actually "feel" the picture, rather than just to "see" it. I love the mood that B&W creates, and I can't help reverting back to my roots --I started out in black and white photography in high school, and carried it with me throughout college, and now, it's still with me. I've logged many, many hours in the darkroom, going through lots of Kodak paper and chemicals! With the advent of digital photography however, long gone are those endless hours of toil in the cramped and poorly ventilated darkroom -- I now spend hours getting a hand cramp from working on the digital negatives on my computer! Ah, so goes the work of a photographer..........although, I do miss those darkroom days. Maybe I should take my equipment out of storage (my parent's house), and have a go at it again!
Speaking of parents, I was with my parents when I took the "image of the week" photo. We were down in Galveston (same day as the trolley picture,) when I saw this lovely corridor. As soon as I walked past it, I knew I had to take the shot. One of the things that I've learned while being a photographer is that people look at you rather strangely when you take pictures of empty corridors...LOL, or doorknobs, trash on the street, old "ugly" buildings ( I love old buildings - they are beautiful), and odd things that people wouldn't normally take photos of. Many of the shots I take are for my own edification, but perhaps I'll share a few now and then........
I am still honoring all senior picture specials and holiday card specials, as well as the Gift Certificate giveaway, so, if you want to capture some memories, contact me today!
Have a great weekend!
